For over 11 years as an independent business and 30 in the telecom industry
What is your primary product or service?
Business Telecom service, equipment sales, and office wiring
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
I became a telecom tech in 1984 when AT&T was broken up, working in New York City at the time. Over the years I have been trained by Bell Atlantic (Now Verizon) and Nynex (Now Verizon) on the major systems used during those times and became proficient on all of them, rising to Senior Technician prior to becoming a first line manager in 1999
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
Just about all the independent phone guys are "ham and eggers" which means that they know a little about business telecom, but never had the training and experience that I have. I have completely mastered certain systems and can set them up as you wish. Newer systems have come out which I am proficient in, and even if I am not a complete master on them, with my training,I am still the best qualified of all the independents.
